Well I figured a new year is upon us now, and with it a new contest should arise. So all you photoshop experts out there, dust off your marquee tools because banners are going to start being added to every category in the forum list. The rules for this contest are fairly simple...
1. The banner you submit must be related to the category you are submitting it for (so no Mario and Luigi banners for the PS2 category)
2. All banners must be 1133x100 in size.
3. All submissions will be decided upon by the Admin team, so be sure that you are submitting something atleast semi-professional looking (for inspiration check out the Unreal Tournament III banner
4. There will be one winner per category, and you can enter a submission for more than one category (so you can enter a banner for the XBOX category and the Nintendo category)
5. Winners will receive a kick ass award featuring none other than the famous Bob Ross to show off to other members along with a 1,000 credit reward.
6. The contest will run aslong as it needs to, until every category has a sweet banner spanning the top of it.
7. All submissions must be emailed to jvinson@ientry.com or you can PM one of the other admins if they're ok for you to email them. You can also post links to the images as well. I just dont want to clutter the thread with banners, slowing things down for people still on 56k (you know they're out there)
Good luck to everyone and I hope to see some great photoshop work and some great banners to liven up the category pages. | 170 Replies | 1,507 Views | VGA's On Spike TV | | Dec 10, 2007 - 7:45 PM - by JohnnyV2007 |
The movie industry has the Academy Awards, the music industry has the Grammy's, and Television has the Emmys. The VGA's may not be the "official" awards in alot of gamer's minds especially the hardcore but is definitely the largest award event we have. Going on it's 5th annual award ceremony, Samuel L. Jackson once again took the reins as the VGA's host. Filled with music performances and celebrity award presenters, the VGA's are pretty much like other ceremonies in that it's more about the event than the actual awards.
Surprisingly it was a pretty varied year in terms of how the awards were distriputed, and dare I say an underdog took the home the top prize against some pretty popular competition.

Just looking through the list of games really makes me think that this year was one of the best years for gaming in along time. So many wonderful titles graced us with their presence this year it really is hard to decide which was the best. Shockingly the flagship title for the XBOX 360 "Halo 3" not only missed out as Best Game Overall but the Best XBOX 360 game to many Halo fanboys dismay. But racked up 2 awards for it's outstanding multi-player achievements.
While not totaling agreeing with every single winner I can't really find any shocking categories that made me frown in disgust. About the only thing I see missing on the list is that Nintendo wasn't atleast nominated as Studio of the Year even though they're just as renowned for their software as their hardware. Also Super Mario Galaxy wasn't even nominated even though it has one of the highest review ratios on GameStats.com. So love it or hate it it looks like the VGA's are here to stay, crazy celebrity guest list and all. | 5 Replies | 308 Views | Is The Wii Getting Too Big For Itself? | | Dec 07, 2007 - 10:45 AM - by JohnnyV2007 | The Wii, the juggernaut of the next gen systems at least from a sales point of view is looking to be the next hot item again this Christmas. You'd figure after an entire year people that wanted the console would have had time to pick their's up, but it looks like the Wii is going to reign supreme over this year's list of hot Christmas toys.
Who can say what it is about that seemingly small white console that drives people into a frenzy, perhaps no one really knows. Nintendo seems to be just as surprised as everyone else how hot the Wii has caught on, so hot it's starting to take down some of it's advertising. Yes, you heard correct, a company is pulling it's advertising even when it seems to be working.
This is not occuring on a global scale mind you, only in the UK is Nintendo replacing it's Wii ads for Nintendo DS ones. The reason being is that Nintendo says they dont really need it.
"We have been running the campaign all year round, but we want to take a responsible stance this Christmas and not fuel demand." - Nintendo Spokesman
Trying to meet it's high demands Marketing Week has said Nintendo is churning out 1.8 million units a month. It's definitely going to be an interesting year in 2008, and what's going to make it so interesting is seeing if Nintendo will be able to hold onto it's Video Game Throne.
